Stay informed on the latest maritime conditions and the most productive bites with regular updates from Just One Bite Charters. Our reports provide an expert-driven look at the shifting tides, water temperatures, and bait movements that define the local ecosystem. Whether you are tracking the spring migration or planning a summer outing, these updates offer the professional insight needed to ensure your next trip is timed for success.

Trophy Fish Caught

Recent outings have yielded impressive results, with significant trophy fish being landed across our primary routes. The striped bass fishing in Mastic Beach, NY, has been particularly active lately, with several large keepers caught using live bait near the inlet. We are also seeing a strong showing of bluefish and quality black sea bass on the local wrecks. While we occasionally see unique visitors like tropical fish drifting north in the warmer Gulf Stream currents during late summer, our focus remains on the hard-fighting local staples that make this region famous. These recent catches demonstrate the effectiveness of our specialized tackle and the deep local knowledge Captain Paul brings to every session.

Family-Friendly Fishing Adventures

At Just One Bite Charters, we specialize in creating a welcoming environment where the next generation of anglers can flourish. Our family-friendly fishing trips are designed with patience and safety as the top priorities, making them ideal for kids and beginners. We provide all necessary safety gear and light-tackle setups that are easy for smaller hands to manage, ensuring a fun and easy-going experience on the water. By focusing on high-action spots where the bite is frequent, we keep the energy high and the boredom low, providing a practical and memorable introduction to the sport.

Narrow Bay - Suffolk, NY Inshore Report on 29th Jul, 2026 - 2

On July 9 I had this amazing family out on Just One Bite Charters. They were traveling around on summer vacation from Indiana and found my listing on Fishing Booking web site. They traveled down from Niagara Falls the day before, needless to say they were a little tired for the fishing trip. As soon as the fish was on they were ready for the fight. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Headed out today to the west looking for striped bass. We weren’t disappointed. We found the bunker and the bass were on them. They were grabbing the bait and running then dropping the bait. Got a few to take the hook and back to the dock for a fresh lunch

Had Lucy and her son Eric out today for Mother’s Day. It was a little foggy but worth the trip. They put 3 keepers in the boat, with lots of laughs and smiles shared between mother and son. Thanks for coming out and letting me be a part of this special day.

The Striped Bass Are Moving In fishing report coverpicture

March 18, 2026

Narrow Bay - Suffolk, NY Inshore Report on 18th Mar, 2026

The bite is heating up in the Moriches area and Just One Bite Charters has the inside track on the action. The spring run is officially showing signs of life here in Mastic Beach, NY. Over the last few days, we’ve seen a steady increase in activity within the bay and around the inlet. The striped bass fishing in Mastic Beach, NY, is currently the main draw, with schoolies filling up the shallow flats and larger fish beginning to move through the deeper channels. We’ve had the most success using live bait and light tackle, which makes for a great fight for anglers of all skill levels. In addition to the bass, the flounder fishing in Mastic Beach, NY, has remained consistent. We are finding them in the muddier bottoms where the water warms up quickly on the incoming tide. For those looking for a mix of species, the scup and black seabass are starting to show up around the local wrecks and reefs during our ocean fishing charters. Conditions have been favorable, and even on the windier days, the diversity of the Mastic Beach ecosystem allows us to find protected spots where the fish are still feeding. Our family fishing charters in Mastic Beach, NY, have been particularly productive lately. It’s been great seeing kids get their "first bite" and seeing the excitement when they pull up a solid keeper. We are currently running trips seven days a week through the peak of the season. If you are looking to book a fishing charter in Mastic Beach, NY, now is the time to get on the schedule while the migration is in full swing. "The fish are waking up and I've got the rods rigged and ready—let’s get you out there and hooked up."
